Admission Procedure for UG Programme

UG Programme

St. George's Arts & Science College welcomes prospective candidates to embark on their educational journey with us. Our admission process for the undergraduate programme is designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and adherence to established guidelines. Below are the details of the admission procedure:

  • Eligibility Criteria : Any candidate who has successfully completed the Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Secondary programme or equivalent programmes such as CBSE / ISC / ICSE, or any other recognized board, is eligible to apply.
  • Submission of Application Forms : Prospective candidates are required to submit their application forms at the College office. Interview dates will be communicated to applicants through phone calls or SMS.
  • Submission Guidelines : Before filling in the application form, candidates are advised to thoroughly read the Prospectus. It is imperative to adhere to the following guidelines:

Application

Carefully read the Prospectus before filling out the application form. Once admitted, requests for a change of programme will not be entertained.

Part-I Language (Tamil / French):
  • Choose either Tamil or French as the language.
  • It is recommended to select the language studied in Class X / XII.
  • Prior exposure to the chosen language at the school level is preferable.
  • French is taught from the foundation level.
  • No requests for changing the language preference will be entertained after admission.
Marks Secured in Qualifying Examinations:
  • Accurately fill in the marks secured in the Board Examination.
  • Attach the statement of marks downloaded from the internet as proof.
Photograph:

Affix three recent passport-size photos of the applicant dressed in formal attire on the application form.

Eligibility Certificate

  • Candidates who have passed the following examinations are required to produce an Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras:
  • Private candidates from the CBSE under the open school system.
  • Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations conducted by any other State Board in India or abroad, except the Tamil Nadu State Board.
  • All degree (UG / PG) examinations conducted by universities other than the University of Madras.

Deadline

The filled-in application for all undergraduate programmes must be submitted along with the required enclosures on or before 31st August.

Documents to be Attached with the Filled-in Application Form

Candidates are required to attach attested photocopies of the following documents:

  • 10th mark statement
  • 12th mark statement
  • Community certificate (BC / MBC / DNC / SC / ST)
  • Certificate of proof for Differently-abled / Sports / NCC / Ex-serviceman / Income Certificate / First graduate Certificate / Aadhaar card copy.

Mode of Selection

Candidates must present themselves along with their parents for a Personal Interview with the Principal on the scheduled date without fail. Failure to report for the interview will result in the automatic cancellation of provisional selection.

Interview

Candidates must produce the following original certificates and documents for verification during the interview. These documents must be handed over to the college office upon confirmation of admission:

  • Qualifying examination mark statement or Provisional Certificate, if available.
  • 12th mark statement
  • Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate.
  • Community Certificate (BC / MBC / DNC / SC / ST).
  • Certificate of proof for Differently-abled / Sports / NCC / Ex-Servicemen, etc.
  • Aadhaar Card.

Declaration

Both the applicant and the parent/guardian must carefully review the contents stated in the application form and agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the college.

Withdrawals

  • If a student wishes to discontinue studies in the institution, an application must be submitted to the Principal, duly countersigned by the legal guardian. Clearance from different units of the institution is required, and a minimum of 10 working days will be needed to process such applications.
  • For withdrawals before the commencement of classes, a refund of 100% tuition fee along with 50% of other fees will be provided.
  • For withdrawals after the commencement of classes but before 31st August, course fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • For withdrawals causing a permanent vacancy in a self-supportive programme, the guardian will be required to pay the fee due for the entire programme, regardless of the reason for withdrawal.

St. George's Arts & Science College ensures transparency and fairness in its admission process while upholding the standards of excellence and commitment to academic growth.

Refund Procedure

Generally, the refund of fees is processed after the closure of the Half Yearly bank account. To collect the refund amount and complete the withdrawal formalities, the personal appearance of the student along with their legal guardian is essential within one month of the above-mentioned period. It is crucial to note that no requests for refunds will be granted after the lapse of the stipulated period. St. George's Arts & Science College ensures timely and systematic procedures for refunding fees, maintaining transparency and adherence to established timelines.

Mode of Payment

Provisionally selected candidates are required to pay the prescribed fees at the College office either in cash or online. Semester fees are to be paid in June and December.

Scholarships

SC / ST Students are eligible for government scholarships. Students who secure above 85% in all Semesters will be recommended for Merit Scholarships.

ID Cards

Students must wear their ID cards inside the College Campus at all times.

Dress Code

Boys : Formal pants, shirts, and shoes are mandatory. T-shirts are not allowed.

Girls : Salwar with Dupatta is the prescribed attire.



Anti-Ragging - UGC Regulations

In accordance with UGC norms, ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Any student found guilty of ragging will face cancellation of admission/suspension from the College and a fine ranging from Rs. 25,000/- to 1 Lakh will be levied.
